Single Family Residence
7,000 Sq. Ft. - Total Gross Area
Schematic Design
After 20 years of designing contemporary architecture, I finally got the opportunity to design a traditional home—and I explored Spanish Revival architecture.
This design took 3 months and 7 versions, from the first hand-drawn concept sketches to the final concept that will move into design development.
The home is designed for a traditional family lifestyle and their future retirement, with a focus on entertaining, indoor-outdoor living, craftsmanship, color, and warmth. The project includes a two-story main house, basement, pool area, ADU, and attached garage.
The deisgn of this house has more Latino-inspired color palette instead of the typical white Spanish Revival aesthetic, and hand drawing helps me think through architectural problems before moving into computer-based design.
This is Version 7— and hopefully, the beginning of a house we're actually going to build.
